About this blog

In this blog for learning Japanese language. Everything related to Japan will be featured in the daily post - each with a new Japanese word.

In this blog I collect lots of useful and useless artifacts that help me to learn Japanese.  I love traveling, cooking and reading. I love manga and anime, you are warned! And I spend most of the free time studying kanji.

I always struggle to remember the new words/expressions.  Textbook with the vocabulary list is just not useful.  The words slip out of my head exactly 10 minutes after the exercise.  I found it much more effective when I can connect those new words with some exciting context.  This is exactly what this blog is about.  In daily short posts I feature different Japanese words and expressions used in the authentic materials - manga, anime, websites.   Believe it or not, but after finding the panel in a manga book that uses the same expression as written in my textbook, I actually realise that there is some progress in the never-ending road of learning the Japanese.

This blog helps me keep track of the process.  In case you find something helpful or interesting here - please, enjoy!

Eventually, I hope to spend several years in Japan - working and traveling. Not yet sure though if it happens in the retirement or as the middle-life crisis escapade. So in this blog I also collect information about different aspect of Japan, be it history, event, venues, special occasions at al. Information on traveling Japan and finding the way in the Japanese society will be also forthcoming. In general - a guide of everything and anything one might need to know about Japan.

English is not my native language. Japanese is, alas, neither. Please, brace yourself for the weird grammar.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Japanese is of course an homage to Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb movie by Stanley Kubrick. Go and see it! I just thought it to be an endlessly amusing title, but I would never dare to claim that I came up with it on my own.

I am open for the questions, suggest and general discussions, please, use the email below to contact me.
